How My Paintings Are Created: The act of painting a fine watercolor for me happens in an almost meditative or spiritual state of being. There, the subject (be it animate or inanimate) seems to engage me in a quiet conversation about how to paint it. The conversation launches a co-creative process between the subject and me leading directly to strokes of paint on the paper. Most of my paintings evolve in this manner. It is a most fascinating experience; albeit a silent and intensely personal one.

The finished painting, however, becomes a public record of that conversation. The viewer, in the presence of the painted images, is able to replay something of the conversation and, for a moment or two, drift into their own fascinating experience.

Individual One-on-One Watercolor Classes for 2011

Watercolor classes focus on a specific subject area (e.g. landscape, portrait, fruit & vegetables, sunsets, trees, Intoduction to Photoshop for artists, digital enhancement of scanned watercolors, producing limited edition giclee prints and cards, etc.) depending on interest. Two classes of two hours durations each, about one week apart, scheduled to fit individual schedules for a total fee of $35.

The two class segment may be repeated either on the same subject area or a new subject area as desired. The classes are in my studio and we both paint together either from photographs or still life or outside.
